Covid-19 6/26/20 update

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. I hope you and your families are safe and healthy.

I am here to update you on my plans moving forward during the pandemic. While telehealth has been working very well and even though the number of Covid patients and hospitalizations in the area have been slowly growing since early June, I have decided to start seeing some patients face to face in the immediate future. If the pandemic significantly worsens again, we will go back to 100% telemedice. My website will always be up to date.

Patients who are very new to the practice (ie, intakes right before the stay at home orders or intakes done via teleheath), those who have vital signs we are concerned about because of the type of medication they are on, those who are not as stable as we would like and those who feel the need to and wish to have a face to face appointment, for whatever reason, are welcome to come in.

Those who are very stable, those who are immunocompromised or have an immunocompromised family member, those in a high risk group or have a family member in a high risk group, or those who just wish to have the appointment via telehealth (some of my families are requesting this), are encouraged to do the appointments via telehealth. Moving forward, since the infrastructure is now in place, if you wish to always have your appointment via telehealth, you are welcome to. I will just need your child to see me face to face at least once a year. I know many of you come from quite a distance for your appointments.

New patients:  moving forward, if the appointment is 2 hours all at once, feel free to come in for the full assessment, those for whom the 2 appointments are 2 separate days, parent appointment can remain telehealth, but I would prefer the child appointment be face to face.

Ultimately I will leave it up to you to decide, but please be aware, the appointment MUST be telehealth if the patient or any family members in the home are showing any symptoms of Covid, such as fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, body aches, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, or new onset GI symptoms or if anyone has a known exposure to a Covid positive patient.

We are NOT utilizing the waiting room until further notice. Please come to your appointment at least 15 minutes early and wait in your car. I am training an intern to check temperatures and pulse oxygenation upon your arrival. If anyone has a temperature over 100 or a pulse ox less than 92, the appointment will be done via telehealth from your car via your cell phone. She may have 3-4 patients and possibly as many parents to screen at the top of every hour, so coming 15 min early will be important so the various providers do not fall behind. Everyone will also be asked to sign a wavier and to alert me if you find out you were exposed within the 2 weeks before your appointment or if you test positive 2 weeks after our appointment. Please know I will be doing the same in regards to the screening each day and alerting you if I test positive or am exposed to someone who tests positive. Only one parent can accompany each child and everyone must wear a mask.

If you are utilizing telehealth, please check in 15 minutes early so I can see you are there. If I do not see you checked in, I will assume your in in your car for a face to face appointment.

I know this is a lot of information and as always, I am available to answer any questions. Please email me or call and leave a message.
